The big bedroom was a mess! Toys were everywhere. Books made towers by the bunk beds. LEGO pieces spread across the floor like tiny traps. Even dirty socks hung from the beds!

“I know where all my stuff is!” said Scout. Her red curly hair bounced as she hugged her science book. The nine-year-old had her own way of doing things.

Her little brother Finch sat on the top bunk. “I can find my toys super fast!” The seven-year-old jumped down with a THUMP. He dug through his pile of stuffed animals.

Mom and Dad watched from the door. They didn’t look happy at all.

“This room needs help,” said Mom. She stepped over a toy train track.

“It looks like a toy store exploded!” Dad shook his head.

The next morning, Mom and Dad had a big surprise. They hung a colorful chart on the wall.

“This is your new Responsibility Chart!” Mom smiled. “Each of you has special tasks.”

Scout looked at her side of the chart. “Pick up books. Make bed. Put away clothes.”

Finch read his list too. “Sort toys. Clean desk. Fix blankets.”

“Whoever does the best job gets a special reward!” Dad explained.

Both kids rushed to clean up. But things got worse!

Scout tossed all Finch’s toys in one big box. “Hey! Those aren’t sorted right!” Finch yelled.

Finch grabbed Scout’s books. He stacked them all wrong. “Those go by size, not color!” Scout huffed.

They worked alone, but the room stayed messy. Scout pushed stuff under her bed. Finch crammed things in the closet.

“This isn’t working,” Scout said with a big sigh.

“I can’t do it all by myself,” Finch admitted.

Then Scout had a brilliant idea! Her eyes got wide and bright.

“Finch, what if we work together?” She grabbed her whiteboard.

“Like a special mission?” Finch bounced with excitement.

“Yes! We’ll call it Operation Clean Room!” Scout drew a plan.

They made it into a fun game. Scout organized the books while Finch sorted toys.

Ready, set, GO!” they shouted together.

Finch handed Scout her science books. Scout helped Finch line up his rockets.

They worked as a team! The floor appeared bit by bit.

“Look! We found your missing space helmet!” Scout cheered.

“And your favorite puzzle!” Finch grinned.

In one hour, the room looked amazing. Everything had its special place.

Mom and Dad couldn’t believe their eyes the next morning.

“Is this the same room?” Dad gasped.

The floor was clean and clear. Books sat neatly on shelves. Toys lived in labeled boxes.

“We did it together!” Scout and Finch said proudly.

“It’s our new family rule,” Scout explained.

Finch nodded. “We’re a cleanup team now!”

Mom and Dad gave them both a big hug.

“The best reward is having each other,” Scout smiled at Finch.
