Once upon a time, there were three bear siblings. Their names were Big Bear, Middle Bear, and Little Bear.
Today was a special day. It was berry picking day! The bears were so excited.
“Let’s go!” said Big Bear. He grabbed their big basket.
The bears walked into the green forest. The trees were tall. The grass was soft.
Little Bear jumped up and down. “I can’t wait to pick berries!” he said.
Middle Bear smiled. “Me too! Let’s find the best bushes.”
The bears found three berry bushes. There were blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
Big Bear started counting. “One, two, three blueberries!”
Middle Bear joined in. “One, two, three, four raspberries!”
Little Bear giggled. “One, two blackberries for me!”
They kept picking and counting. Soon, they had big piles of berries.
“Look!” said Big Bear. “My pile is big.”
Middle Bear nodded. “Mine is bigger!”
Little Bear’s eyes grew wide. “Wow! Our basket is the biggest of all!”
The bears compared their berry piles. They counted together:
“One, two, three, four, five!”
They clapped their paws. Counting was fun!
Little Bear looked up at a tall bush. “Oh no,” he said. “I can’t reach the top berries!”
He tried to stretch. He tried to jump. But the berries were too high.
Big Bear saw Little Bear’s sad face. “Don’t worry,” he said. “We can help!”
Middle Bear nodded. “Let’s work together!”
Big Bear and Middle Bear lifted Little Bear up. Now he could reach!
“Yay!” Little Bear cheered. “One, two, three, four, five more berries!”
The bears smiled. Teamwork made everything better.
They counted all their berries together:
“One, two, three… ten, eleven, twelve!”
“We picked so many!” said Middle Bear.
The sun was setting. It was time to go home.
Big Bear held the basket. It was full of berries!
“We did a great job,” said Middle Bear.
Little Bear nodded. “We counted lots of berries.”
“And we worked as a team,” Big Bear added.
The three bears walked home, happy and proud.
They couldn’t wait to share their yummy berries!
Let’s talk about the story!
- Can you help me count, sweetie? Let’s use our fingers to show how many bears were in the story. One, two…
- What do you think, my little explorer… If the bears found a strawberry bush next, how many berries might they count there?
- Let’s imagine together… If you were Little Bear and couldn’t reach the high branches, what would you do? Can you show me how you’d stretch up tall?
- Here’s a fun puzzle for you, my clever one: I’m round and small, I grow on a bush, and I can be blue, red, or black. What am I?
- Can you tell me, honey… What was your favorite part of the bear family’s adventure? Can you draw a picture of it?
