Once upon a time, there was a magical garden. It was full of bright flowers and buzzing bees. In this garden lived many colorful hummingbirds. They zipped and zoomed all around.

One day, a curious child named Sam came to visit. Sam’s eyes grew wide with wonder. The garden was alive with movement and color.

“Wow!” Sam gasped. “Look at all the tiny birds!”

Sam saw red hummingbirds and blue ones too. Some were green, and others were purple. They flew so fast, they looked like flying rainbows.

Sam walked deeper into the garden. Suddenly, a tiny voice called out.

“Hello there!” It was a garden fairy, no bigger than Sam’s hand.

“Hi!” Sam waved. “Who are you?”

“I’m Petal, the garden fairy,” she said. “Want to explore?”

Sam nodded eagerly. They set off down a flowery path.

“Look!” Petal pointed. “Five red hummingbirds are drinking nectar.”

Sam counted softly, “One, two, three, four, five. Wow!”

They walked on. “Over there,” Petal whispered. “Ten blue hummingbirds rest on a branch.”

Sam’s eyes lit up. “That’s more than before!”

As they explored, Sam saw groups of hummingbirds everywhere.

“There are so many!” Sam exclaimed. “I wonder how many in total?”

Petal’s eyes twinkled with mischief. “Sam, I have a fun challenge for you!”

“What is it?” Sam asked excitedly.

“Can you count all the hummingbirds in our garden?”

Sam’s jaw dropped. “All of them? But there are so many!”

Petal nodded. “It’s tricky, but I think you can do it.”

Sam thought hard. “Okay, I’ll try! How should I start?”

“Well,” Petal suggested, “why not count by colors?”

Sam’s face lit up. “Great idea! I’ll count red ones first.”

Sam began to walk around, pointing and counting carefully.

“One, two, three…” Sam moved slowly, eyes darting everywhere.

It wasn’t easy. The birds moved so fast!

But Sam didn’t give up. “I can do this,” Sam said bravely.

Sam kept counting, but it was hard. The hummingbirds moved so fast!

“They’re too quick!” Sam cried. “I keep losing count.”

Petal patted Sam’s shoulder. “Don’t give up! Try a new way.”

Sam thought hard. “Maybe I can count them in groups?”

“That’s clever!” Petal cheered. “Give it a try.”

Sam looked around. “I see twenty yellow ones by the roses.”

“Great start!” Petal clapped. “What’s next?”

Thirty green ones near the pond,” Sam pointed.

Sam moved carefully through the garden. Counting became easier.

“This is working!” Sam smiled. “I can do it!”

Petal beamed with pride. “See? You found a smart solution!”

Sam took a deep breath. “I think I’m finished, Petal!”

“Wonderful!” Petal twirled in the air. “What’s the total?”

Sam’s eyes sparkled. “There are one hundred hummingbirds!”

Suddenly, the garden came alive. Flowers bloomed brighter.

All the hummingbirds began to sing a sweet melody.

“You did it, Sam!” Petal cheered. “You counted them all!”

Sam jumped for joy. “Wow! One hundred is a lot!”

The garden fairy smiled. “You learned to count big numbers.”

“And I had fun doing it!” Sam laughed.

From that day on, Sam loved counting everything.

And the Hundred Hummingbird Garden became Sam’s favorite place.
